Washington Travel Guide

Washington is so under-rated.

This past weekend I got to see the coolest little town in Washington! We fist spent the weekend in Seattle and actually stayed in a cute hipster town called Ballard. We went to Pikes Place Market and went to the first Starbucks, obvi. Here’s a list of my favorite places around the city:

  • Elliots Oyster House

  • Starbucks (Pikes Place Market- 1st)

  • Fat Hen (brunch)

  • The Nest (rooftop bar)

  • Post Alley

Then, we drove 2 hours east to a little mountain town called Leavenworth. I am not even kidding you guys I felt like I was at Oktoberfest mixed with the movie Frozen. Apparently it’s a Scandinavian town that sells everything beer, pretzels and bratwurst (thankfully vegan too). Everything was the same theme and almost out of Disney world. I loved it though, and really made you appreciate the type of culture that is common in Scandinavia.

Then, we went on a hike through Fish Lake and saw the most beautiful lake/mountain scenery that was honestly breathtaking. It was a moderate trail with many more hikes available through the park. There’s also Colchuck (about 8 mi./5hrs.) and Rattlesnake ledge (easy) that are very popular. Within the town these were my favorite places:

  • Yodelin (yummy soup)

  • Icicle Brewery

  • Post Office Saloon (we karaoke-d here)

  • The Loft

  • Starbucks (obv.)

  • Louie’s (brunch and great bloodys!)

  • Rhein House

  • Los Camperos (authentic Mexican) which was actually a nice change.

Overall, this was an amazing trip and definitely a different vacation than I’m used to. I would for sure recommend this to anyone who wants to explore a new state or city. Honestly I don’t love trips to a city and feel like most of them start to look the same, so this was a refreshing trip, which was really cool to reconnect with nature and half of my German roots.
